Frequently Asked Questions

There are always a lot of peace/justice events happening in DC. Is No War, No Warming another march on Washington D.C.?

The point of No War, No Warming is to escalate the public’s stance on war and climate change by engaging in a meaningful act of civil disobedience. Until Congress and the corporate profiteers to whom they cater prioritize our communities and sustainability over war and profit, we cannot sit still. On October 22, we put our bodies on the line to demand an immediate shift of our federal spending from militarism and fossil fuel subsidies to human needs and a renewable energy future. On March 19 we will do it again!

What if I can’t afford to travel to D.C. / don’t want to combust more fossil fuels / prefer to demonstrate at a corporation’s headquarters instead of on Capitol Hill?

You can organize an action in your community! No War, No Warming solidarity actions will occur across the country on March 19. Register any action you plan to take on our “Local Actions” page of the website and find others in your area to join you. Choose any location relating to war and climate change – perhaps at a gas station or a military recruitment center. For a complete list of our target suggestions, see the “Local Actions” page of this website.

Are there resources available to help me plan an action in my community that ties into the action occurring in D.C.?

Yes. There are suggested targets, a sample press release, talking points and a place to register your event to link up with other protesters in your area on the “Organizer Headquarters” page of this website.

Will there be training in Non-Violent Direct Action prior to the March 19 intervention?

Yes. The organizing body of No War, No Warming will announce the times and locations for trainings in non-violence and civil disobedience to occur in Washington D.C. Also, we will be doing some trainings at the National Conference on Organized Resistance, taking place at American University a few weeks earlier. Join us!

What will the mobilization look like? What will we do in D.C.?

Come to D.C. and join in the planning of the day of action! We will be forming affinity groups – groups that coordinate together to plan different pieces of the overall action. Actions may include, but are not limited to, erecting a windmill blockade, critical mass bike rides, pray-ins, die-ins, other anti-war demonstrations or sit ins, die-ins, occupations or other creative manifestations of the world we know is possible if we shift military spending to community health and clean energy. We will have a variety of targets rather than just Congress - there are many companies and branches of the government involved in continuing the cycles of war and and warming that we hope to speak to.

Where can I find more information on the connections between war and climate change?

There are some very good articles linking climate chaos to war and increased militarization. Please take a look at some recommended readings in the “Press Room” section of this website.
